Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. In the UAE it’s often sold as White Friday, and it has become one of the biggest online shopping weeks of the year. In an analysis of more than 4.5 million orders from the November sales of 2023 and 2024, Flowwow and Admitad found that UAE shoppers spent nearly three times the regional average per order: about $103, against $38. During White Friday 2025, shopping app installs in the UAE rose 38% year on year, according to AppsFlyer data.

For a small business that means real demand, and real competition. The big retailers will spend heavily, and costs for ads rise with them. The way to win isn’t the deepest discount. It’s a well-chosen offer, prepared early, sent to people who already know you.

The short answer: decide your offer by early November and check it still makes money, apply for any permit you need, warm up your audiences two to three weeks before the sale, make sure your website and WhatsApp can handle the rush, and spend most of your effort on existing customers and people who already visited you.

Key dates for 2026

When What
Now to early November Choose the offer, check your margin, apply for permits, plan stock and delivery
11 November Many retailers run “11.11” sales; a good moment to start teasing your own
Mid-November Start ads to build audiences; open an early-access list
20–26 November Early access for subscribers and customers; final checks on the website and stock
27 November Black Friday / White Friday
30 November Cyber Monday: last-chance messages
2 December UAE National Day: a natural next moment, with a different tone

First, decide whether a discount makes sense

A discount that brings orders but loses money on each one isn’t a sale worth having. Before you choose a number, work out:

  1. Your margin after the discount, not before.
  2. What each customer costs to win, including ads. Our marketing budget guide shows how to set a target cost per customer.
  3. Delivery, packaging and returns, which rise with volume.

If the numbers don’t work at 30% off, they rarely work better at 50%. Alternatives that protect your margin:

  • A bundle (two products for a better price than one).
  • A gift with purchase, ideally something with a high value to the customer and a low cost to you.
  • Early access for subscribers and past customers, rather than a public discount.
  • A spend threshold (“AED 50 off orders over AED 300”), which lifts the order value as well.

Whatever you choose, keep it honest: show the real price the product normally sells for, and the real saving.

Check the permit before you announce anything

In Dubai, the economic department has said that a permit is mandatory for any promotional offer, in addition to a valid trade licence. Promotions during official festivals and events have their own route, the DFRE certificate of participation through the Department of Economy and Tourism. Rules differ by emirate and change over time, so check the current requirements for your licence and leave time for approval before your ads go live.

Warm up your audiences early

The people most likely to buy from you during a sale are the ones who already know you: past customers, subscribers, followers and recent website visitors. Build those audiences before the rush.

  • Start ads two to three weeks before. Meta says a new ad set usually leaves its learning phase after about 50 results in a week, and that editing during that phase resets learning. Launching on the day and changing things hourly is the most expensive way to run a sale.
  • Use the warm-up to collect people, not just clicks: an early-access list, WhatsApp opt-ins or followers you can reach again during sale week.
  • On Google, capture people searching for what you sell, and expect costs per click to rise as more advertisers compete. Not sure which platform to lead with? See Meta ads or Google Ads.
  • Plan your budget by the month. A Google Ads campaign can spend up to twice its average daily budget on a busy day, but no more than 30.4 times it over the month.

Get your website, WhatsApp and stock ready

A sale exposes every weak point at once.

  • Speed and checkout on a phone. Many sale shoppers arrive on a phone, often from an ad or an app. Test the path from ad to payment on your own phone, on mobile data. Our guide to why websites get visitors but no enquiries has a checklist.
  • Stock and delivery promises. Show delivery cut-offs clearly, and stop ads for products that sell out.
  • WhatsApp replies. Many UAE customers will message before they buy. Prepare quick replies for sizes, delivery times and returns, and only send marketing messages to people who opted in. Our WhatsApp marketing guide covers the consent rules.
  • Opening hours. If your shop opens late for the sale weekend, add special hours to your Google Business Profile.

Sale week: fewer, better messages

  • Lead with existing customers. An email or WhatsApp message to people who opted in usually costs far less per order than cold ads.
  • Keep one clear offer in every ad, post and message, with the end date.
  • Retarget people who visited, added to cart or messaged without buying.
  • Send a last-chance message on Cyber Monday, then stop. Extending the sale again and again teaches customers to wait.

After the sale: keep the customers you paid for

Sale customers only pay off if some of them come back. Within two weeks:

  • Thank them, and ask for a review once the order has arrived.
  • Recommend something that goes with what they bought.
  • Tag them in your CRM as sale customers, so you can see later whether they returned at full price.

UAE National Day on 2 December follows right after, a better moment for gratitude and community than for another discount. Then the Dubai Shopping Festival opens on 4 December; our DSF plan for small businesses covers it.

What to measure

  • Profit after discounts, ads and delivery, not revenue.
  • Cost per new customer by channel.
  • Average order value, compared with a normal week.
  • Share of orders from existing customers versus new ones.
  • Repeat purchases at full price in the following 60 days.

Where our experience comes from

The same principles drive our performance marketing work all year: campaigns judged on profit and customers rather than clicks, as when we took Impossible Foods from losing money on ads to a consistent 3.5× return on ad spend.

The short version

Choose an offer that still makes money, check your permit, warm up your audiences two to three weeks before 27 November, get your website and WhatsApp ready, sell first to people who already know you, and follow up so sale customers come back. If you’d like help planning it, book a free call.

Quick answers

When is White Friday 2026 in the UAE?

Black Friday, sold in much of the region as White Friday, falls on Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. Many retailers start their offers earlier in the week or run them for the whole month, so plan your own dates rather than copying the calendar.

Do I need a permit for a White Friday sale in Dubai?

Usually, yes. Dubai’s economic department has said that a permit is mandatory for any promotional offer, in addition to a valid trade licence. Check the current requirements with the Department of Economy and Tourism, or the economic department in your emirate, and leave time for approval.

Should a small business join White Friday at all?

Only if the numbers work. Calculate your margin after the discount, ad costs and delivery. If a deep discount loses money, consider a smaller offer, a bundle, a gift with purchase or early access for existing customers instead.

When should I start advertising for White Friday?

Two to three weeks before the sale. Build your audiences and test your creative early, because ad costs tend to rise in sale week and Meta campaigns need time to leave the learning phase.
