Ramadan marketing in the UAE: a practical plan for small businesses (2027)
Ramadan 2027 is expected to start around 8 February. A week-by-week plan for UAE small businesses: timing, tone, offers, ads and the rules to check.
By the Breezy Media team, Dubai

Ramadan changes how the whole country lives for a month. Days start earlier, working hours get shorter, families gather for iftar at sunset, and evenings run late. For a small business, that means the hours when people browse, shop, eat out and reply to messages all move. A marketing plan that ignores the shift wastes money; one that respects it can make Ramadan one of the strongest months of the year.
The short answer: plan in January, publish your Ramadan hours and offers before the month starts, move your posting and ad schedules towards the evening, keep the tone generous and respectful, and have your Eid plans ready well before the last ten days.
Key dates for 2027
- Ramadan is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, according to astronomical calculations reported by The National and Gulf News.
- Eid Al Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027, depending on whether the month lasts 29 or 30 days.
- These are forecasts. The official dates are confirmed by moon sighting, so build the plan around them and confirm the exact days closer to the time.
Ramadan 2026 began on 18 February, so if you want to look back at last year’s numbers, that is the period to compare with.
How the day changes
- Shorter working days. In recent years the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has cut private-sector working hours by two hours a day during Ramadan, with room for flexible or remote arrangements. Expect the 2027 announcement shortly before the month.
- Evenings carry the day. Iftar at sunset, then family time, prayers and late nights out. Many people browse, order and reply later than usual.
- Your own data is the best guide. Look at when your enquiries, orders and bookings came in during last Ramadan, hour by hour, and schedule around that rather than around assumptions.
A six-week plan
| When (2027) | What to do |
|---|---|
| Early–mid January | Decide your Ramadan offer (menus, bundles, gifting, hours). Apply for any promotion permits. Plan and shoot creative. |
| Late January | Update your Google Business Profile and website with Ramadan hours. Build ad audiences from recent visitors and customers. |
| From about 8 February | Switch posting and ad schedules towards the evening. Lead with community and generosity rather than discounts. |
| Mid-Ramadan | Keep a steady rhythm. Retarget people who engaged in the first days. Share useful content: suhoor ideas, timings, gift guides. |
| Last ten days | Shift to Eid: gifting, outfits, family gatherings, travel. Make delivery and booking cut-off dates clear. |
| Eid Al Fitr (expected 9–10 March) | Eid greetings and offers, then switch back to normal hours everywhere you published them. |
On Google, special hours only cover temporary changes of up to six days in a row, so for the whole month edit your regular hours and use special hours for Eid.
Tone and content
Ramadan is a month of reflection, family and giving, and the content that works respects that.
- Lead with generosity: iftar for your team, a local cause you genuinely support, a useful guide, a thoughtful gift idea.
- Keep imagery considerate. During fasting hours, food-heavy posts can feel out of place; many brands save them for the evening.
- Be careful with charity claims. If you link sales to donations, work with a licensed charity and say exactly what will be given.
- Avoid generic greetings with nothing behind them. A greeting plus something useful (your hours, a delivery cut-off, a new menu) is worth more than a stock lantern graphic.
Offers and promotions
Ramadan and Eid offers can work well, but plan them early:
- Check the rules. In Dubai, advertised discounts and promotions can need a permit from the Department of Economy and Tourism. Leave time for approval.
- Offer something that fits the month: iftar and suhoor menus, family bundles, Eid gift sets, extended evening hours.
- Make the deadline clear, especially for Eid gifting and delivery.
Ads during Ramadan
- Prepare before the month starts. Build audiences, test creative and set budgets in January, so you are not learning while competition for attention is at its highest.
- Schedule for the evening. Shift ad delivery and posting towards iftar and the hours after it.
- Refresh creative more often. People see more Ramadan ads in a short window, so the same creative tires faster.
- Watch cost per customer, not reach. Many advertisers raise budgets in Ramadan, so costs can rise. Judge each campaign on enquiries and sales against a target cost per customer.
By type of business
- Restaurants and cafés: iftar and suhoor menus, pre-booking for groups, delivery cut-offs, and updated hours everywhere. Our café marketing guide covers the local basics.
- Retail and ecommerce: gifting, Eid outfits and family bundles, with clear delivery dates.
- Services and B2B: decisions can slow down during the month, so plan launches for after Eid and use Ramadan for relationships rather than hard selling.
- Gyms, wellness and entertainment: later hours and evening sessions, promoted clearly. Our gaming and venues guide has more on planning around Dubai’s seasons.
What to measure
- Enquiries, orders and bookings by hour of day, compared with last Ramadan.
- Cost per customer for each campaign, week by week.
- Repeat customers after Eid: did the month bring people who come back?

Quick answers
When does Ramadan 2027 start in the UAE?
Astronomical calculations put the start of Ramadan 2027 in the UAE on Monday 8 February, with Eid Al Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March. These are forecasts: the official dates are confirmed by moon sighting, so plan around them and confirm closer to the time.
Should small businesses advertise during Ramadan?
Usually yes, if the message fits the month. Daily routines shift towards the evening, so schedule posts and ads around iftar and later, keep the tone generous rather than pushy, and prepare creative and audiences before the month starts rather than during it.
Do I need a permit for a Ramadan promotion in Dubai?
Advertised discounts and promotions in Dubai can need a permit from the Department of Economy and Tourism. Check the current requirements before you announce a Ramadan or Eid offer, and leave time for approval in your plan.
